Omfang

The Internet was initially designed to solve the problem of connecting machines across local area networks (LANs). Both communication parties can only know the address of the connected machine but cannot know any information about the parties (including people, organizations, or things) that operate the hosts/clients to communicate with them. This means that most Internet applications depend on a centralized architecture. In the 6G era, since decentralization is an important feature not only for the diverse and distributed vertical applications but also for the underlying network, it is necessary to research trusted decentralized networking platforms. In this report, several emerging use cases are collected, including the digitalization of trade and shipping documents and other 6G-era-oriented typical vertical applications, as well as network resource-sharing cases. These cases reflect that the trusted decentralized networking platform and related emerging technologies (including but not limited to digital identity, trust-building technologies, digital wallet, and computing power network) in the 6G era could power future Internet applications with decentralized architecture, flexibility, scalability, robustness, and reliability. Consideration of future work is included at the end of this document.
