Abstract

The SustainMobility Impact Assessment Framework provides a structured approach to evaluate the impacts of sustainable mobility systems, aligning them with international initiatives like the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It reviews existing initiatives, IEEE efforts, and introduces a taxonomy categorizing strategies, technologies, and interoperable mobility solutions.  The framework defines key terms like decarbonization, renewable energy, and green infrastructure while emphasizing strategies such as electrification, shared mobility, zero-emission vehicles, and public transit–oriented development. Case studies and practical applications illustrate these concepts, focusing on reducing carbon emissions, enhancing efficiency, and promoting lifecycle assessments.  A holistic, SDG-aligned approach underpins the framework, advocating ecosystem-wide collaboration to standardize sustainability efforts, drive systemic change, and support global climate goals through innovative practices in transportation.  This white paper focuses on related work and a framework for sustainable mobility. Further white papers will follow, covering methods and use cases.
