Omfang

This standard establishes the dimensional and visual quality requirements, lot requirements, and packaging and labeling requirements for O-rings molded from AMS7274 rubber. It shall be used for procurement purposes. APPLICATION These seals have been used typically for sealing at temperatures as low as -67 °F (-55 °C) where resistance to hot petroleum-based lubricating oil is required, but usage is not limited to such applications. Each application should be considered separately. (a) O-ring sizes -013 through -028, -117 through -149, and -223 through -247 are intended only for use as static seals and are not to be used in applications with reciprocating or rotary involvement. This is due to the possibility of spiral failure occurring in these smaller cross-section-larger diameter O-ring sizes.  (b) O-ring sizes -029 through -050, -150 through -178, -248 through -284, -350 through -395, and -461 through -475 are not supported by AS4716 and are intended for nonstandard applications. They are intended only for use as static seals.
