Omfang

This document specifies requirements, for the operation, maintenance, repair and modification of selfpropelled industrial trucks (hereafter referred to as trucks) and their attachments as defined in AS ISO 5053.1, AS ISO 5053.2 and AS ISO 5053.3 and gives guidance for the design of workplaces in which they are used. This document applies to the following: (a) Counterbalanced lift trucks. (b) Reach trucks with retractable mast or retractable fork arm carriage. (c) Straddle trucks. (d) Pallet-stacking trucks. (e) High-lift platform trucks. (f) Order picking trucks with elevating operator position up to 1 200 mm. (g) Order picking trucks with elevating operator position above 1 200 mm. (h) Side-loading trucks (one side only). (i) Lateral-stacking trucks (both sides), and lateral- and front-stacking trucks (turret). (j) Powered pallet trucks. (k) Four-way directional and multi-directional trucks. (l) Tractors with a drawbar pull up to and including 50 000 N. (m) Rough-terrain counterbalanced trucks. (n) Reach stackers. (o) Industrial variable reach trucks. (p) Articulated counterbalance trucks. (q) Pedestrian propelled trucks. (r) Driverless trucks. NOTE 1 Dynamic stability safety guidance is included in this document; see Appendix B. NOTE 2 The design and manufacture of trucks is covered by AS 2359.1 and AS 2359.6 This document does not cover the following: (i) Tow tractors with a capacity greater than 50 000 N. (ii) Rough terrain reach stackers (container handlers). (iii) Rough terrain variable reach trucks (rough terrain tele-handlers). (iv) Lorry mounted trucks.
