Abstract

This document specifies a calculation method for greenhouse gas emissions that can be used for a building throughout its life cycle. It covers products, goods and services related to the building, as well as the operation, use and disposal of the building.The document defines requirements as regards methods for the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from the building’s entire life cycle, from cradle to grave. The standard can be used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions linked to the life cycle of an entire building or parts of a building, as well as parts of the life cycle of the building or building element.This document is based on NS-EN 15978 Sustainability of construction works – Assessment of environmental performance of buildings – Calculation method, but is restricted to calculating emissions of greenhouse gases. The document delimits and specifies the method for greenhouse gas calculations in relation to requirements stipulated in NS-EN 15978.The document stipulates that NS-EN 15978 must be followed unless otherwise indicated.The document extends the system boundary viewed in relation to NS-EN 15978 by including transport in the operational phase, i.e. transport of people who use the building, as well as the transport of goods linked to the same users.
