Abstract

INTRODUCTION The purpose of these tests was to determine the effects of drilling mud and drilling-mud additives on the setting time, thickening time, and strength of oil-well cement slurries. Since the drilling muds commonly used in the field are complex chemical mixtures, the scope of this report is limited to the indicated quantitative effects of the individual mud additives on the setting-and thickening-time properties of the cements tested.
