Purpose It is the purpose of this document to memorialize the materials used as background and working documents in the development of SAE J3097/ANSI Z26.1 in order to preserve these materials as references for standards developers who will use them to better understand the origins of the standard’s provisions, as well as the thought processes and goals of the American National Standard (ANS) Task Force in its deliberations during the period April 2015 to May 2019.
