Abstract

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides descriptions of aircraft flight control actuation system failure-detection methods. The fault-detection methods are those used for ground and in-flight detection of failures in electrohydraulic actuation systems for primary flight controls. Purpose This AIR has been produced to aid the designers of the systems of the future by showing what has succeeded in the past. Field of Application This AIR generally concentrates on full fly-by-wire flight control actuation systems, but it includes one augmented-control system. The actuation system comprises the actuator, control valves, sensors, and related failure detection and monitoring elements.
