Abstract

This publication provides best practices for preventing both the introduction or concentration of impurities in carbon dioxide installations at customer sites. This publication defines these impurity categories and includes a troubleshooting table that assists in determining the source of the contaminant. It also addresses impurity issues commonly experienced at customer sites and includes a review of installation equipment and best practices to prevent the introduction or buildup of these impurities. This publication is not limited to carbon dioxide in any size or type (i.e., vacuum jacketed or insulated) of storage tank or any particular type of customer site. This publication does not cover cylinders filled as described in CGA G-6.3, Carbon Dioxide Cylinder Filling and Handling Procedures or CGA G-6.13, Standard for Stationary Uninsulated Cylinder Supply Systems for Carbon Dioxide [2], [3]. This publication does not cover the product specifications or supply requirements. For information on carbon dioxide specifications and testing procedures, see CGA G-6.2, Commodity Specification for Carbon Dioxide [4].
